COSTUMES
Ensemble - Each Parent Provides for their Child, please. Have your child wear it at rehearsal to try it out on April 16th.
As far as our almost 60 student cast, I am asking each family to take responsibility for finding some basic black and white outfit for their child or children. Some samples are below. Then the child would have black or white pants or leggings to go with the top. Long sleeves are good too. The shirts here and just for basic inspiration.

Costume/ Craft Projects which need Costume Volunteer Help During Class
I’d love parents to help 2nd & 1st Graders with at Rehearsal: Can you help? When can you come?
I have a simple concept for two craft projects the second and first graders can do to make costumes but they’ll need 1-2 parents for support..
#1 Pool of Tears - 2nd Graders. THIS PROJECT BEGAN ALREADY. THANKS!
One is blue yarn pom poms which will be Alice “tears” in the pool of tears. I’m bringing some yarn and cardboard. This involves wrapping, tracing, and cutting thin cardboard and yarn.

# 2 Card Numbers & Symbols - First & Second Grade. WE NEED HELP!
I’m buying white felt squares we will safety pin on their shirts as cards with a big number like “2” and then 4 symbols for hearts, spades, clubs, or diamonds, one in each corner.
If you already have it at home, can you bring:

— tiny gold safety pins that seem too small for most projects to attach the cards to the actor's shirts
--- Adult scissors. Kid sized-scissors.
--We also need pencils or pens to trace the shapes
I am providing white felt squares pre-cut to a good size for their tummy region.
Red & Black glittery foam sheets
Stencils for a number for their card and for smaller card shapes like hearts and spades, etc. to put in the corners of their cards.
We need help with:
— the kids tracing and cutting out their shapes and numbers made with stencils on self adhesive glittery foam sheets

#3 Flower Headbands 4th & 5th Grade - I bought them green headbands and sparkly stick on green foam core for the girls to cut out leaves and stick onto their unique headbands. I think they can do this by themselves at rehearsal.

3rd Grade Pool of Tears Creatures - I have animal headbands for them. So, no worries, but f someone wants to spend time and get creative they could do more embellishments like tails, furry vests, or…?

We may be able to use crocheted animal heads, but I might need more.
Does anyone know how to make such things?
GENERAL COSTUMING QUESTIONS to Parents
3 Cheshire Cats - I’d like them to have/ find some purple and possibly pink accents to put together with their black & white. I think I’ll ask the parents of those children to help them with it, but if any of you want to get involved, let me know.

SETS
Should not be too hard.
ACTING BLOCKS TEAM - I already brought in a number of acting blocks. We need them to be painted with different things on different sides like stones, black & white patterns, and white roses with red paint. So, we need black, white, and a little bit of red paint. Anyone have some extra? When can we get it done? Right after rehearsal and they dry overnight on the stage on drop clothes??? On a weekend??
DOOR TO WONDERLAND TEAM - We need someone to create a set piece that can have a very small door that’s too small for Alice but the door knob’s face can be seen, and then the unit gets turned and the doorknob is much higher in a big door because Alice has shrunk. The images below are one idea but it doesn't have to be just like this. Anyone want to take this on?

CAN WE FIGURE OUT A WAY TO DO PROJECTIONS??
I have a projector and images which would look awesome if we could project them behind the students, but HOW can we position the projector on your stage? How can we create a big swath of white across the upstage curtain that we can project onto? How far away can we get without projecting onto the fronts of the kids? So how big can the images actually be? I have a few ideas, but nothing really solid. Does anyone feel excited about trying to figure out how this can be possible? Anyone experienced with such matters?
Thank you all! I look forward to working with you.
